Field Work Begins on County's New Water District

Survey teams hit the streets as Nash County kicks off the design phase of the Northern Nash Water System. For the next two months, crews will cover portions of the fifty-five mile project as they survey elevations and assist with aerial mapping. Nash County Utilities Director Mike Tolson reminds residents that workers will be operating near intersections in the public right-of-way. "We're excited to begin work on this highly anticipated project,” Tolson said. “Safety is our biggest concern, so we want the public to be aware that crews will be working along roadsides in parts of northern Nash County." Nash County recently announced that it was awarded grant and low-interest loan funding that would pay for the design and construction of the water district's first phase.  Crews will complete survey work for the project in November and construction will begin in the summer of 2018.
